I breed mice because I enjoy making improvements on the species. Sometimes I come across temperament, health, marking or other characteristic that deems worthy of duplicating. I became aware awhile back how unhealthy and horribly temperamented pet store mice are for pets. As much as they need homes as well, they are all most likely bred on mouse farms. Mouse farms do not make it a point to breed to better this species, they breed only for money. They do not handle their mice nor care about their health. Mousing Around Mousery does not breed to make a profit. Breeding mice for this reason only is impossible to do. Although easy to care for, its also a matter of being responsible with an animal I adore. I only plan breedings and have litters when homes are available for them and reservations are made in advance.
Its been a wonderful way to teach my own kids about responsibilty as well as good pet ownership no matter what type of pet it may be. I hope to better educate people on just how awesome they are to have as pets, and how much time and care a reputable breeder puts into their mice, that is my main goal.
*************************************************************** Mousing Around mice (the just born to the elder) are handled on a daily basis by adults and kids. They not only come in colors you cant find just anywhere, they are also in better health than those found at pet stores. These mice are close to show standards (as a breeder there is always room for improvements), but are bred for purposes of pets only with good health and temperaments!
I will always for any reason, accept my mice back after purchase. They will come with a contract of health for the life of them (please read pet contract info). My mice are sold ailment free to buyers, I will never sell a mouse I suspect to be unhealthy. And never will the mice sold from me be sold pregnant. I put care and planning into breedings.
From time to time I have the room and ability to take in mice that need care because of neglect or some other issue preventing them from a happy life. Please contact me if you require assistance.
Breeders- I will from time to time have breeding stock available. However; I ask questions! You must have the knowledge, space, time, and a small amount of finances are needed for regular care of multiple mice at once. You need to be a known, respected member of the mouse community. **It is not okay to contact me, purchase these mice with alternative motives than what you state, and breed these mice without my consent. If you love mice as much as myself or any other reputable breeder- than this is all very well understood without questioning. I don't take kindly to those who give me false information.
Purchasing our Babies: All of our babies stay a minimum of 5 weeks. It depends on mouse and mom if they are able to be homed at this age. I know right around the 3-4 week age of who is available from litters. As a member of AFRMA and United Mouse Club, I breed to show standards- meaning the best out of the litter stays in my mousery. Prices of mice vary a little. Markings/type will decide prices. The prices range between $4-5. If you would like for me to meet you halfway (depending on mileage) there is a small gas fee to do so. This has to be arranged ahead of time please. Deposit of half due of the total amount must be received by Mousing Around before a mouse/mice are considered reserved/belonging to you. Deposits are non-refundable. This is my best insurance that mice you are interested in will truly have homes once weaned.
Each mouse will come with a sample of their current food. I sometimes have boxes available for transporting your new pet, but please make arrangements with me beforehand. I do not always have this available.
Once in awhile I will have 10 gallon tanks available (new and gently used) for purchase.*only applies with the purchase of our mice however.
~10 gallon Tanks- $10.99 (regular retail 12.99 and up) New, $9.00 Used
**I firmly suggest purchasing a minimum of two female mice together, as they are very social animals and will thrive much better with a sibling or friend to live with. Males tend to fight more over dominance.
